A press conference was organized by the State Election Commission today. State Election Planning Commissioner Sanjay Prasad addressed the entire press conference. In which he announced local self-government elections. 6 Municipal Corporations 81 Municipalities, 31 District Panchayats, 231 Taluka Panchayats were announced. Notably, the election was postponed for 3 months on the 12th due to Corona's condition.

A press conference was organized by the State Election Commission today. State Election Planning Commissioner Sanjay Prasad addressed the entire press conference. In which he announced local body elections. 6 Municipalities 81 Municipalities, 31 District Panchayats, 231 Taluka Panchayats were announced. Notably, the election was postponed for 3 months on the 12th due to Corona's condition.
The new voter list was announced on January 5, ordering each district to send EVMs. 3000 EVMs were ordered from the Election Commission. Preliminary testing was also conducted from 12 January. Elections were held from December 7 to January 6 on the orders of officials. The demarcation for holding elections was discussed with all the collectors through video conference with the districts for demarcation and area reservation. All coordination was also done through video conferencing with the Municipal Commissioners.
Considering the situation of Corona in Gujarat, the local body election of the state will be held in two phases. In the first phase, elections of corporations and then municipalities and panchayats will be held. Polling for 6 corporations will be held on February 21. The result will be the counting of votes on February 23. While 31 District Panchayats and 231 Taluka Panchayats as well as 81 Municipalities will go to the polls on February 28 and the results will be announced on March 2.
