7 Gujaratis awarded Padma awards: Padma Shri to Savji Dholakia of Surat, Padma Bhushan to Swami Sachchidanand

The country lost its first CDS, Bipin Rawat, in December last year. He was killed in a helicopter crash. He will now be posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan by the government to salute his bravery.

The Central Government has announced the Padma Awards on the eve of Republic Day. This year a total of 4 persons will be awarded Padma Vibhushan. So a total of 17 people will be honored with Padma Bhushan and 107 people with Padma Shri Award. 7 dignitaries of Gujarat will be awarded Padma Sanman.

In the announcement of the Padma award for the year 2022, 7 Gujaratis will be given Padma award. In which Swami Sachchidananda will be awarded Padma Bhushan, Savji Dholakia of Surat will be awarded Padma Shri, Dr. Lata Desai, Malji Desai will be awarded Padma Shri, Ramilaben Gamit will be awarded Padma Shri, Khalil Dhantejvi will be awarded Padma Shri posthumously, Guruprasad Mahapatra will be posthumously awarded Padma Shri.

Ramilabahen Gamit (Social Work) (Padma Shri)

Khalil Dhantejavi (Literature and Education) (posthumously Padma Shri)

Guruprasad Mahapatra (Padma Shri)

Apart from him, the government is also going to honor former Chief Minister of UP and veteran BJP leader Kalyan Singh with posthumous Padma Vibhushan this time. He too died last year due to ill health.
