New Delhi / Bureau: WhatsApp has faced widespread resentment over the major changes to its privacy policy and this has become a new problem for the company. WhatsApp is constantly clarifying the new policy and the policy has been postponed till May 15 for the time being. But despite this, most Indian users are distancing themselves from WhatsApp.


Only 18% of users want to use WhatsApp

According to a survey conducted by social media platform Localcircles, only 18 percent of users in India want to use Whatsapp under the policy and 36 percent say they have reduced their use of WhatsApp to a minimum. In addition, 15 percent of users say they are going to stop using Whatsapp, while 24 percent want to switch to another platform.

91% of people do not use payment services

The survey also revealed that 91% of users do not want to use WhatsApp Payment Service. Users say that WhatsApp notifies payments and transactions with Facebook and they will not use its payment feature.

Survey of 24 thousand people

The survey, conducted on WhatsApp, received more than 24,000 responses and was conducted in 244 districts of the country. However, the number of WhatsApp users in India alone is over 400 million.

Downloads dropped 35 percent in 7 days

With the advent of the new privacy policy, people have started boycotting Whatsapp and in just 7 days, India has seen 35% fewer downloads. Between January 1 and 5, WhatsApp downloads were 20 lakh, which has dropped to 13 lakh. So Signal and Telegram are very popular. The signal download between January 1 and 5 was 24 thousand, it has increased to 23 lakh between January 6 and 10. Telegram downloads have increased from 13 lakh to 15 lakh during this period. dx
