Coronavirus was found in Sabarmati river, Kankaria, and Chandola lakes

It is currently difficult to say how dangerous the presence of Coronavirus is in the Sabarmati sample



Coronavirus has been found in the Sabarmati river in Ahmedabad. Samples were taken from Kankaria, Chandola Lake in Ahmedabad also came out positive. This research has been done by Professor Manish Kumar of IIT Gandhinagar. As many as 16 samples were taken in four months. Out of which 5 samples turned out to be positive. Although water samples are taken from the Sabarmati river every week by AMC's water supply department, no coronavirus was found in their testing.

Samples were taken at the time of the first wave

In an exclusive interview with Zee 24 Hour, Manish Kumar said that coronavirus was found in the Sabarmati river, Kankaria, and Chandola lakes. These are the results of research up to December during the first wave of corona in the state. No research has been done on the second wave since December. Which needs to be researched. Not just Gujarat. Similar corona has been found in water in other states as well. The report has been sent to the Pollution Control Board of the state government.


It is difficult to say how dangerous the water virus is

III Gandhinagar Professor Manish Kumar's research on the presence of coronavirus has revealed a great deal. Coronavirus has also been found in the waters of the Sabarmati river. Professor Manish Kumar said that from September to December 2020, 16 samples were taken from the Sabarmati river. In which the presence of coronavirus has been found.


 Apart from this, samples were also taken from Kankaria and Chandola lakes. However, it is difficult to say how dangerous the presence of Coronavirus is in the Sabarmati sample. It is important to study whether the coronavirus is Death or Live. Apart from this, Professor Manish Kumar has also taken some other samples to further the research and he will soon release a report.

The virus was not found in the sample taken by AMC

On the other hand, in the case of water samples taken by IIT Gandhinagar, Harpalsinh Zala, head of water supply department of AMC, said, "We have no information as to when and how these samples were taken." We also have no information on where and by what method the samples were tested. We regularly send water samples to the State Government Institution every week. The Gujarat Biotech Research Center of the state government has given us 11 places, accordingly, we give them samples. 


We will also take samples from 3 places as per the report and send them to the government. We take regular samples from 11 places and give them to the state government. The presence of the virus in human wastewater may be possible, but fresh water has not yet been reported in the world.
